I fell 40 + feet from a tree at age 8. It was a sprawling oak with limbs stretching out everywhere. As I fell it seemed like forever before I hit the ground. On the way down I felt a warm presence at my left side. I heard a womans voice say "shhhhhhhh."

I hit the ground and was out cold. A friend went and got his older brother who carried me out of the woods.

My mom put me in the car and on the way to the hospital I came to.The first thing I said was "who was that woman?" My mom asked "what woman?" I replied "the one that helped me down."

I stayed in the hospital for 3 days. They couldn't find anything wrong with me. NOTHING!

At age 10 I slipped and was hanging off a cliff 60 to 80 ft over a rock quarry. I was on flat granite on an angle. All I could grip it with was my bare arms and bare belly. All of which were scratched, scraped and bloody. I was slowly slipping on the flat granite. I had 2 friends with me but they were on the other side of the quarry. I tried to yell but when I tried to take a deep breath I would slip a little more.

I started crying. I thought I was going to die right there.

A warm hand pressed against my back and that same voice said "shhhhhhhh."

My friends finally showed up and managaed to pull me up.

They picked on me for yelling for help like a girl.

I never yelled.

I was a teen in the 70's. There was a lot of partying going on in my neighborhood in those days. We had a number of places we used to go and party. Most of them in the woods, or secluded area. Never got in any trouble with the authorities. I know it was because of her. My close friends learned to listen too. If I said "time to go, somethings going to happen!" we left.

Just a few months ago I was driving on a local highway. I travel it quite often. I was crusing along a little too fast and she came over me. I slowed, put my foot over the brake pedal and waited. Within seconds a mini van with a woman and 2 young girls in it pulled right out in front of me. I was completely prepared and I still almost hit them. I know had I not been ready, it would have been a terrible scene.

I think we all have "guardian angels" "helpful spirits." I believe some of us listen for them and some either ignore them or just don't listen.

I wonder sometimes if maybe I can hear other peoples helpful spirits? Like the mini van. Was that my helpful spirit or one of theirs? Maybe they don't listen to theirs, so it spoke to me?

I ignored her on one occasion. Peer pressure got the best of me. We were partying down by the Chattahoochee river. It was over 100 degrees that day. We had been drinking and stuff at an outdoor concert. Some friends said "lets swim across to the landing" She said "NO!" I said "yes." There were cute girls in bikinis involved. The landing was secluded.... you get the picture.

I had been doing a lot of running from throwing the frisbee. I was all heated up. The water felt near freezing as I dove into it.

I got about half way across and all my limbs froze up. Knees, hips, sholders, elbows. I started seeing those little white dots before my eyes. Like you se...

I began to hyperventilate. My heart rate went up, my head started pounding and I was headed down stream fast. I remember thinking of her. I started telling myself over and over, "don't lose it or you're going to die."

I bounced against a rock that was just below the surface of the water and somehow managed to pull myself up on it. I sat there for a long time trying to regain my strength and composure.

It took every ounce of energy in my body to get the rest of the way across. Then I had to walk about a quarter mile back on the side of the river. No shoes, no path.

I got to the landing and sat down under an awning. I fell asleep. I slept there until my friends came and got me. I rolled in the back of the truck and fell asleep again. I got home and slept for 16 hours straight.

I never ignored her again.
