Oh please. This sounds like Provda propaganda from the far left. This is ridiculious. With so many issues going too far right or too far left, the American public is not going progressive, but is heading more toward the center.

Let's call it center-left
I've had enough of the authoritarian daddy-like right wing propaganda that promotes huge deficits for war-profiteering and corporate welfare. The middle class is getting decimated by Rovian style social issue propaganda that is geared to induce most of the public to vote against their own interest. The progressive agenda of FDR in the 1930's kept this country democratic, and resurrected the free-enterprise market system. What we need is a new New-Deal. There has always been a dis-connect between what the majority really believe, and what the right-wingnuts propagate as the truth.....their truth!

When one sees the way the right wing spiritualists have infiltrated the White House (and are actively bragging about it) and read that candidates are expected to front for questions from these spiritualists, you have to wonder what progress is happening.
The statements are all very positive and it would be nice to think they had a chance, very nice - even nicer if people see the world as it is rather than with them at the centre.

"Liberals are people who bellieve that they are right and anyone who disagrees is misguided; conservatives are people who bellieve that they are right and anyone who disagrees is wrong."
So, what is the differrence? If you are wrong, you are wrong. I matters little if it is because of misguidedness or ignorance. In fact it demonstrates tha Conservatives ARE right because someone is right and someone is wrong. If a Liberal cannot show why someone is WRONG, then I suggest the Liberal is wrong.

Delusional. Article says more progressive over past FEW decades. US is in a more progressive mood now than in late 60s or 70s? More in unions than 70s? Could go point by point but this is obviously an article written by 20 somethings expressing wishful thinking.

willhelm, you entirely misunderstood my statement. What it means is that liberals, believing those who disagree are misguided, try to help them. Conservatives, who believe that others are wrong, just condemn and tell others to nark off.

It's a dichotomy between the nurturing parent/disciplinarian parent models. You are obviously a conservative, since your reply shows that you cannot see shades of grey. To paraphrase Babylon 5: "Understanding is a three-edged sword - my side, your side and the truth."

JOrjor, That comment is utterly idiotic. shades of gray? pure idiocy. Actually,YOU miss the point. Who ever is right IS right and whoever is wrong IS wrong. If the conservative IS right, then the Liberal IS wrong. The Liberal may care to indoctrinate the person that is right so that he agrees with Liberal idiocy.
However, you are right the conservative doesn't care. I have no illusions about acheiving agreement at clipmarks. If that is your goal, then you are naive. My comments are to point out clarity of the views and to distinguish points, illogic, and clarify the disagreements that liberals try so hard to confuse with their "gray area" ignorance.
