Bush Sr. funneled money, conventional weapons, nuclear, biological and chemical technologies to Saddam (and so did some European countries/companies too). This led Saddam with his megalomaniac personality to believe he could do what he wanted and invaded Kuwait. Bush Sr. and the UN backed coalition threw Saddam out of Kuwait and imposed WMD disarmament, no fly zones and embargo. Clinton&Gore upheld this policy. The embargo & Saddam's politics destroyed the Iraqi economy and the Iraqi peoples hope for the future. Gore says Iraq was a terrorist threat in this speech when he was running for Vice President but after he is no longer in power he states that Iraq never was a terroristic threat nor did Saddam Hussein have any terroristic ties. Somebody has a faulty memory or is it just selective memory where we only want to recall what fits into our perspectives or viewpoint. When Gore was seeking a position of power he found Iraq to be a threat. Once he got into power he somehow forgot how much Iraq was a terroristic threat.
