RecordSage says: Interesting... although unlikely to match/top the human equivalent any time soon. The potential for 'mistakes'/improvisation and the resulting tension this gives to a live human performance would be the missing ingredient I imagine It depends on the algorithm - they could always build in deliberate 'errors'. Although it seems to me until they figure out exactly how the human brain works - they won't be able to match a solo by Ella Fitzgerald. they won't be able to match a solo by Ella Fitzgerald.or Hendrix Although, if one was to look at something like the latest Beatles CD "LOVE" (highly recommended especially for die-hard Beatles fans who actually know the music and really appreciate what was done on this CD) - one could see possibilities of using digital means (intelligent kind) to come up with similar works with all kinds of variations and not just stop at Beatles doing Beatles, but possibly intermixing various bands/composers for some very interesting twists of new based on old. This CD is a perfect example of such possibilities. Thanks for the pointer - brought up on the Beatles (red & blue compliations) and Stones (Beggars Banquet) by obviously loving parents so always open to going back over that old ground |
