"America needs a new birth of freedom, it needs a government for the people, it needs a government that puts people first, but it won’t get one unless Americans come to realize just how immoral and vicious our economic system is."

President Calvin Coolidge did say that the business of America is business and the American political class seems to have adopted this view, but the Constitution cannot be used to justify it. The word “business” in the sense of “commercial firm” occurs nowhere in it. Nowhere does the Constitution direct the government to even promote commerce or even defend private property. The Constitution is clear. It was established to promote just six goals: (1) form a more perfect union, (2) establish justice, (3) insure domestic tranquility, (4) provide for the common defense, (5) promote the general welfare, and (6) secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity. Of course, the...

For instance, wouldn’t it be difficult the claim that a bankruptcy procedure that protects business and subordinates or dismisses the claims of workers and injured plaintiffs establishes justice? How can spending trillions of dollars to save financial institutions and other businesses whose very own actions brought down the global economy be construed as establishing justice or even promoting the general welfare when people are losing their incomes, their pensions, their health care, and even their homes? These actions clearly conflict with the Constitution’s stated goals. Shouldn’t they have been declared unconstitutional? Although the Constitution does provide people with the right ...

Whose Country Is It, Anyway?
Not yours. It hasn't been yours since it was stolen from you in 1913. And the last two presidencies are the most progressives since Wilson.

You say 1913, referencing of course the Federal Reserve Act. Actually, it's a double edged sword dating to 1886 and the Santa Clara County v. Southern Pacific Railroad Company decision, effectively granting person status to corporations. Both are critical to the question.

You Americans need an actual Left-Wing National Party; people who will fight for the Constitution, and the rights of ordinary people over those of coorporations. Right now, all you've got is a wussy Centre-Right party (The Democrats) and a Right-Wing Extremist party (The Republicans). Time to make America be for Americans again.

It seems the only two people with grounded sense on the issue is myself and darkduskx. All the rest of you can't find your ass through all your idiotic ideas about what is left, what is right, what is up, and what is down. Total buffoonery. Get a grip people. Idiot, dorkfarce, calls for a leftist party, while describing a Libertarian-Rightist Party. Bartender beats that anarchist drum, which would love nothing but entire destruction of the Constitution along with the current administration. And, everyone, is so idiotic they actually believe there is difference in the two PROGRESSIVE parties. Most of you idiots have no clue about history, political philosophy, ideological movements, etc. You just blather on and on.

Willhelm, the Chickenhearted, you are living in a delusion. What I described are the goals of a leftist party. You're deranged if you think that a right party actually cares about protecting the people and their interests. Leftists are defenders of the constitution, while the right wing is constantly picking and choosing, promoting just the parts of the constitution that they like and trying to destroy the parts that they don't.

Willhelm, the Chickenhearted, you have no idea about political sciences, or any sense of history other than the rewritten nonsense that America spoonfeeds its people. You are ignorant in the extreme, and worst of all, you're proud of your ignorance an...
