Why should a city that is prohibited from discrimination (rightly) pay for Hdqtrs. of an org that does?

But I am concerned for the innocent young boys who join the Scouts. What are they learning from this?

I hope they are learning that bigotry is not acceptable.
With any luck maybe the adults will learn it too.

In America, people should be free to choose who they associate with, marry, allow in their private businesses, buy their property, etc.... Isn't that what we're being told? So it should work both ways.

If the elected government has determined that the Boy Scouts no longer have access to "public" property (though they are part of the "public"), because of their personal values or organizational criteria, then they should vacate it peacefully and be free to set up within a privately owned facility.

Actually the law says that nobody is allowed to discriminate due to race, color or creed OR sexual preference....

sorr--the above should finish:...in the public government-funded domain. Private Orgs. can be bigots all they want--at their own stupid peril.

Funny how they never went after them for all these years for their exclusion of women, but they did for their exclusion of gays. Does this mean gays have now passed women as a 'protected' group?

The gay agenda has been forced upon us for quite awhile now as an acceptable lifestyle though the media. I'd like to think the majority of people do not agree with it, I do not. Once was the gays seemed quite content just coming out of the closet. Letting others know their preference, I had no real problem with that. Now it seems they want the rest of us to not only accept them but to view their lifestyle as "normal", as normal as that between a man and a woman, I simply can not.

I not only do not accept them, I wish they'd quit forcing the gay/lesbian lifestyle upon us through mass media, our schools, movies, television and now even in marriage. If that makes me a bigot so be it. It seem...

"normal" people, huh? So, is bigotry "normal"? The whole point is that people discriminate against people who aren't the same as them...,,,which apparently you do and thinks its OK, Dl211--by the way--What kinda crazy name is that, Huh? Get off my clipmark, you...you...ABBREVIATION, YOU How dare you! (see what i mean?)

I think almost everyone is bigoted to some degree, although everyone trys to suppress it since we've become so damn politically correct. I admit I am bigoted, my bigortry has increased over the years due to gay rights groups and the media trying to re-educate the general public into accepting their lifestyle as perfectly normal, you can if you wish, I simply choose not to, that is my right.

As you wish, I'm off your clip, have a good one.

Geez, man, I was bein' sarcastic about gettin' off my clip--you are certainly free to comment any time here...i guess ya didn't get it...you have every right to be bigoted unless you impose it on others, man...Peace! BTW--want to define "normal" for us? Just like you?

I would say being normal simply depends on the issue at hand and ones particular stance on that issue, so realistically we could both views ourselves as being normal, only with differing views.

On the issue of gays, I would think a large portion of the population would consider them as having an abnormal lifestyle and do not relish the idea of having their values forced upon the general population. I have no problems with the gays, I do have a problem with them trying to justify their concepts to me through mass media and try and make me accept them as my definition of normal.

dl...you've boiled it down to the bottom line.

"Bigoted" is in the eye of the beholder. If a person has a difference of opinion that doesn't make one bigoted. But it's a popular term and a way of intimidating those with differing views.

Sadly, an otherwise wholesome and beneficial organization which for years has helped instruct, build, and provide an age-peer group for young boys has been demonized and made the target of a political agenda. It's the pop-culture thing of our day. Erase every ounce of traditional American standards and America can be recreated to conform to the agenda of the minority.

Gee, and here I thought Amurika was all about freedom and liberty...guess i was wrong!
Let's say you had a child whom you love, of course, who is gay, knows it and tells you he wants to be a Boy Scout so he can be a part of that instruction and camping and all that...BUT isn't allowed in because he's demonized for being "different". Well then Screw the Boy Scouts! And if they want to get a free HQ from the City of Philadelphia (remember that?)--tough shit! Luckily, I was not a Boy Scout--I preferred the YMCA Indian Guides and had a great time.

Why not say, son, I think you'd be happier if you tried getting into the Girls Scouts, you'd have more in common with them, you know....talking about boys all the time.

Makes about as much sense as me trying to join the NAACP or Jesse Jackson trying to join the KKK, it just will not happen.

I'm still not clear on why it was okay for them to discriminate against women, but not against gays? Is there some secret written law or maybe a flow chart for these situations? And if it is because there is a girl scouts, does that mean all they needed to do is start a gay scouts and then everything would be hunky dory? And lets not get started on the age discrimination...

Who would have thought say thirty years ago we would be having discussions involving the Boys Scouts of America and the Gay/Lesbian movement in the same sentence? Thirty years ago, gays were happy just to get out of the closet, now it seems they want to lock the rest of us in it.

Of course we also have ourselves to blame, we simply ignor these threats at the onset.

OK, we get it--you don't want gays in your face--but get over it, Dl, the genie is out of the bottle and you'll have to live with it or just pull the covers over your head and stay in bed the rest of your bigoted life.

My last statement on this clip – I promise - you say "just get over it" or “pull the covers up over my head” as if I should just accept the gay agenda as you seem to do and get over it. I find it real hard to just accept gays as being anything except repulsive, actions on their part continue to enforce my loathing of them.

If gays want to be treated as a normal segment of our society then it’s high time they start acting normal, at least while in public. They should keep their lifestyle at home like heterosexuals do, not parading it around all over the country in front of any television camera that will put them on the air.

I have a problem with the antics of g...
