Con Ed just reported that they have no leaks in their system. One caller in to the news suggested that it might be a release of the odor additive (mercaptin?), not actual natural gas.

Con Edison, the Fire Department and multiple city agencies are investigating the source of a natural gas odor throughout Manhattan this morning.
