It's a new trend that newborns are not receiving enough Vitamin D. As the risk of melanoma increases, the use of sunscreen increases. Newborns are covered in head-to-toe clothing and hats as well and this means that they receive very little sunlight. In this study over half of the newborns were deficient in Vitamin D, which could lead to Rickets, which is essentially a disease associated with soft bones.
