Derzeit sei es sehr schwer Risikokapital für die weitere Finanzierung des Unternehmens zu erhalten, sagt Clay. Die Lukrierung von Risikokapital sei in Österreich derzeit unmöglich, in London schwierig und im Silicon Valley machbar. Deswegen sei es auch mittelfristig möglich, dass das Unternehmen von Wien in den Silicon Valley übersiedelt. Zwei Risikokapitalgeber sind derzeit an soup.io beteiligt. In der Wiener Start-up Szene mangelt es laut Clay vor allem an sogenannten Angel-Investoren, welche sich mit bis zu 100.000 Euros an <SPAN class="textHLMark">Internet</SPAN> Start-ups beteiligen. "In Wien gibt es einige Förderstellen wie departure oder ZIT, es fehlt aber das "Ökosystem" für Start-ups wie im Silicon Valley", so Clay.
