Think too that we 'narrow down' our perceptions, beliefs etc as we age. In this age of rapid changes I find myself increasingly searching for younger minds to interpret aspects of these changes. Two particulars: things relating to 'new cognition' attendant upon communication technology; secondly the increased availability of human perspectives from many cultures which challenge older ways of seeing history, politics, culture etc. Clipmarks is a great resource her. A 19 year old picking up the pieces of his buddy has just aged beyond his years, a doctor or nurse trying to patch something that should never need patching, a fireman trying to save people in an inferno. They need love, from family, co- workers, and themselves. I worked in the bowels of the earth for years; those telling you that working in a mines is like working in a factory do not know what they are talking about. I have seen people killed and injured in gruesome scenes which nobody should ever endure. If not for the love of my wife, family, and close friends, the hardship would be 3 fold. That is why I am still 20 when my wife walks in the room, my daughters ask me for help, put a line ... POP for cabanaben's comment. Wow! That is so true. Elder people use this argument to keep the younger ones hushed up. Wish I could pop again for cabanaben's comment. Beautiful. |
