It does not address the fact the women live longer and therefore constitute a larger percentage of the population. The article addresses the issue of too few available YOUNGER women - not enough to assure most young men in some areas that they have a chance of marrying. And polygamy is clearly not the only reason for there being too few. Young men in China and India far outnumber young women due to sex-selection abortion and limits on fertility. Also I would like to add, only in Arab countries a minor percentage of people practise polygamy and it is subject to certain rules. whereas in other muslim countries you would not find even 1/2 percent polygamist. Just Google for "Polygamist groups" and you would find the answer where and how it is practised more. Also different...
