It's funny, but in China a couple years ago there was a huge scandal about industrial chemicals found in (I believe) KFC barbecue sauce. Of course, that wasn't reported in any English language newspapers. And this wasn't reported in any of the Chinese language newspapers (although, I don't read nearly as many of them.) This would be a good time to reflect on how the language barrier is a tool used to promote propaganda and control information. It is my earnest hope that computer translation services can become less cumbersome and easier to apply, since they seem to represent our best hope at overcoming this problem. I remember reading this article in Inc quite some time ago about how companies NEED to compromise their Intellectual Property to do business in China (i.e., give a detailed blue print to the Chinese government "for security clearance") and many companies are pulling out of China as a result of this. Translation software (even online) is fairly effective. I'd say the real barriers you reference are that of opposing goverments. The government of China has a need to block certain aspects of news (we know Google cow-towed for them) and the U.S. has thier own as well. Fair enough? I agree that it is governments that are behind most of this, but I would love to see a dramatic revolution in translation software. Why you never heard of that news, even with the software you have, is because you can only really effectively search in the languages you speak. A search engine integrated with translation software that allows you to search for results in all languages would make a huge difference in how we process information. By the way, does anyone know if that speculation Is that enough to get a patent? Let's ask why Fox News or CNN or even Mr.Glen Beck Why he isn’t talking about China trying to poison us (I MEAN USA) from Toys toothpaste to Dog food! To who knows what else!
