thisnamecantbetaken says: *LOL* I've had lots of pet chickens. My last one, Molly was a fiery little "Red Dwarf" with an awesome attitude! She was queen of the roost even over all the cats. Aah, I loved that funny hen. *LOL* Anyway! I'm not a vegan. I believe chickens are "meant" to be eaten by us, just as we one day will be food for others, be it worms or Azaleas. (or White Pointers, if you're an Aussie. Ha ha!) The point is respect. Treat animals with dignity and respect and be thankful for the nourishment they provide. We're all just part of the food chain. Don't waste or squander, but be thankful for the food you are lucky to have. (Not all are as lucky as us, to be able to eat every day.) Check out all the cool comments from fellow clippers on the clip about plants having feelings, for some really cool thoughts on consciousness and awareness and interconnectedness. Mind-expanding! Molly died of old age, by the way... Pop for the clip and the comment. Simply wonderful TNCBT. Some of our best friends have been chickens. And we have several pet chickens as I write this. In two or three days a darling little Silky bantam will be the proud mother of approximately 10-12 chicks. P.S. Thanks for the great site Do you really want to know? A friend of mine just brought me 25 chicks to care for him while he is ill. Do they have a personality? I'LL SAY!! They are funny. They even laugh at me at times. We will be using the eggs. Thank you, TNCBT, for the site and your comment. Chickens are fascinating creatures who do not deserve the inhumane treatment they too often receive. We also have pet chickens whose eggs we use, and would no more kill and eat our personable little chickens than we would our cats or dogs. Chickens have SO much personality, it's funny more people haven't discovered, how funny they are to have around. Battery hens seem stupid, however I can imagine a person just staring and dribbling if they were kept in the same conditions from birth. The nervous systems, and brains of animals (Including Humans) are far more flexible than we had once believed. As with many things, what you get out can depend on what you put in. An animals brain is like a blank page. It can stay blank, become a notepad with a line or proverb, become a 12 volume historical record, or a piece of A4 full of random numbers. The possibilities are beyond definition.Sometimes there is even some common sense tucked away in there. cool!! i agree!! |
