Desperate times demand desperate measures So does Obama have an exit strategy for all this spending? I mean, does he even have a vague idea of how to get out of debt? I know Bush was crazy with the spending, but that’s not really an excuse to airdrop gasoline on a wildfire. I think the article title is an understatement. Ya, but "the Obama administration is the most fiscally irresponsible in the history of the U.S. I would imagine that he would be the intergalactic champion as well, if we could gather the data on deficits on other worlds" would be just a tad too long. Blah, blah, blah. Funny how all of a sudden government spending is on the freakish far right's radar. Where were you all during eight years of throw-it-down-a-hole Bush deficits? There is a difference between wasteful spending and investment. If I spent a tenth as much as my neighbor but it was on parties and his was on education... You Bushies got us here, now we have to invest our way back to health. Stop your whining you traitors. Wow, talk about a hypocrite. $400 billion deficits are too much under Bush (and I don't disagree), but as soon as your guy is in office you aren't concerned at all about a $2 trillion deficit with $1 trillion deficits for years to come. I didn't like the deficits under Bush, but I am now at least five times as alarmed since the deficits are at least five times as large. They can't defend this Administration's and this Congresses irresponsibility...which we will never be able to recover from...but they'll howl about a deficit that could have been handled. No, not hypocrite. Just know the difference between throwing money down a hole and investing. Because the so called stimulus package has had such a positive effect on the economy so far? Besides, how does all the spending plus four times more NOT throwing money down a hole? How is all that money we gave to auto makers who went bankrupt NOT throwing money down a hole? How is giving money to groups like ACORN NOT throwing money down a hole? What exactly has this administration cut that you considered money being thrown down a hole? Investments take time, as the president said they would. The money that was spent that had no effect was the tax-cut which went straight into savings accounts or to pay off debts. Now who is it that says tax-cuts are always the solution? I'd say our folly in Iraq was a HUGE waste of tax funds that could have been invested in improving our infrastructure here at home. First, the bill wasn't an investment bill, it was supposed to be a stimulus bill. Problem is, it was missing a couple of very important things to provide any stimulus. For one, it spends more money later and very little of it now. Fact is, only about 7% of the stimulus bill money has been spent. How is it supposed to save jobs and stimulate the economy if you don't spend it? The other missing component is that the spending needs to be targeted towards stimulating the economy. As of right now, only about 6% of the money sent to the states has been used for the types of projects expected to create jobs about 75% of it has been used to shore up state budgets. Shoring up state budgets isn't stim... 1) If feds spend and states shrink, you aint got no stimulus. 2) Yes he did 1, 2, 3, 4 3) There you go again putting words into people's mouths. Saddam was a two-bit dictator that Bush was hellbent to go after because he threatened his "daddy". Hundreds of billions of dollars and a trashed economy later he's gone. I guess we showed him. 1. If the states are allowed to keep doing what they are doing to cause their own financial crisis and no money is spent on actual stimulus, then you have fixed nothing and only delayed the inevitable. On the other hand, if states were forced to deal with their financial problems while at the same time that money were spent on things that would actually stimulate the economy, then the states could cut their budgets while bringing in more money due to the stimulated economy and everyone wins. 2. Most of those didn't have Obama saying anything. The second link listed nicely the problems with this so called stimulus plan though. Either way, it was the Obama administration that said the stimulu... CNN 2002: Bush calls Saddam 'the guy who tried to kill my dad' [...] in discussing the threat posed by Saddam, the current president offered his staple list of complaints about Iraq's defiance of the United Nations and his contention that Iraq is working aggressively on chemical, biological and nuclear weapons programs. "This is a man who continually lies," Bush said. He said the Iraqi leader's "hatred" was largely directed at the United States and added: "After all, this is the guy who tried to kill my dad." http://archives.cnn.com/2002/ALLPOLITICS/09/27/bush.war.talk/ And you said the invasion of Iraq was a waste of money. In other words you believe we would be better off if we still had that money and Saddam were still running Iraq. I still believe my conclusion isn't as far fetched as your conclusion that the one and only reason Bush went after Saddam is because he tried to kill his father. |
