"There are two kinds of geniuses. The characteristic of the one is roaring, but the lightning is meager and rarely strikes; the other kind is characterized by reflection by which it constrains itself or restrains the roaring. But the lightning is all the more intensive; with the speed and sureness of lightning it hits the selected particular points and is fatal." Søren Kierkegaard belonged to this latter kind of genius. Niels Jørgen Cappelørn, Gyldendal Leksikon Kierkegaard declared that his task was "to make difficulties everywhere". He most surely succeeded but when the lightning strikes, all the rubbish is burned off and for a sweet electric moment all is clear. What an outstandingly good clip. For an excellent site on Kierkegaard's writings see www.sorenkierkegaard.org/ Most people's opinions are rooted either in convention or in fashionable ideologies. Few there are who "reevaluate all values." Kierkegaard lacked the intellectual prowess of Spinoza, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche to name a few. Geniuses -- the proverbial little boy shouting "The Emperor has no clothes." That, my dear oscarrob, put's in all in the right perspective. Well done. I enjoyed your clip, thanks |
