Obama has defined deviancy up by minimizing Geithner's clearly intentional cheating. Now why, given his wealth, he prepared his own taxes. My guess is that he wanted to keep his omissions to himself. Don't many people cheat some on their taxes? Perhaps. But obviously that should disqualify them from becoming secretary of the treasury. There was some very good action today by Obama, declaring previous abuse of prisoners at Guantanamo Bay torture, issuing an executive order banning these abuses, stopping the illegal military 'kangaroo courts,' that had been going on at Guantanamo Bay and ordering the closure of this prison. There's a lot to do. On it's surface this choice for Sec. of the Treasurer doesn't seem good but making judgements about it now is like reading tea leaves. I'd suggest waiting till there is some specific action takes place. The forces of greed, scams and exploitation certainly haven't suddenly disappeared, though, that's for sure. And no one yet seems certainly on what's the best way to spend the rem... |
