wish i could pop this a million billion times!!! Oh how I hate the there v. their problems, usually compounded when they're enters the mix. I've seen it in countless online discussions and it really drives me nuts. While some people do use “effect” as a verb (“a strategy to effect a settlement”), they are usually lawyers, and you should therefore ignore them if you want to write like a human. No mention of To vs. Too? I wonder if the context of this clip was the reason the clipper didn't write any remarks. I'm afraid that I am usually affected by the effect/affect problem. Just can't shake it. But does it show on my face? BTW, a good mnemonic for "to v. too" is to substitue with "ta". Where "ta" works it is generally spelled "to" where it doesn't, "too". "I have ta take this stuff back, I have ta much of it." |
