Sometimes genes need to be switched on, sometimes off, sometimes there is a gene missing, or extra. They are all part of the same process, and the genes of all life forms can form links. Many of the The way these things may be done will be part of the expanding understanding of the mechanics of Genes, and DNA. We also have to watch for the pitfalls, but hopefully many of these will be discovered in small scale experiments, before successes are used widely. We are doing that now, but there's always the temptation to jump in with too little information.
