Jorjor says: It seems to me that a lot of praying, instead of achieving its intended purpose of praise and glorification instead reduces a deity to a petty servant. Internet evangelist Stuart Shepard issued a call to pray that Barack Obama's planned speech in a stadium in Denver gets rained out. That goes beyond petty into the realm of the ridiculous and juvenile. Amen! Drugs are causing a lot of people to lose touch with reality. I used to know people that would pray to get a good parking space. Some of my Pagan friends use this chant to the parking space goddess: Hail Asphalta, full of grace, Help me find a parking place. Sorry, it was me. I needed that touchdown. Middle east maybe next year?? Thanks, Jorjor! A worthy addition to the BoS. Too much praying, IMHO, means that the person really doesn't have the self-confidence their faith is supposed to give them, because instead they are asking God to micromanage their lives rather than take personal responsibility for any aspect of life. Too funny! |
