this was supposed to be a Really BIG BOMB...How could our NASA Geniuses get it SO WRONG....something smells !

Wasn't it a 2 ton bomb?? Maybe they missed! In a couple of weeks we might just see Venus go BOOM instead! Oops!

It wasn't a bomb at all. There was not meant to be an explosion, but an impact. They crashed a 2-ton empty rocket into the moon's surface.

Yes, they sent the spent 2.2 ton "kinetic" Centaur rocket (the size of a bus) into the moon at twice the speed of a bullet and then 4 minutes after that impact, the LCROSS spacecraft itself (or satellite, with the size of a compact car), followed close behind and crashed into the moon also. So there were 2 impacts. Both, surprisingly and disappointingly unspectacular though, IMO. .
