chestnut501 says: "When applied to the question of how people may gain knowledge about their unconscious self, the present set of studies demonstrates that self-perceivers do not appear to pay as much attention to and make as much use of available behavioural information as neutral observers" Ok so i'll read yours and you read mine and we'll compare notes. It's a deal. True, sometimes you need to invite others to give some feedback on your behavior and appearance. Not only good friends or family, also people who might have a different opinion / lifestyle than yours. Just keep in mind that you're more than can be observed. Behavior and appearance also depend on the role play. What do people expect to see from a business person, or a teamplayer? Maybe it isn't clear what you want to show. Also, take note of the difference in how people interpretate signals I think that reading body language is partly an "intuition" In college and later, on-the-job seminars I got all the "book training" but I've always had much more accuracy following my intuition. I think that reading body language is partly an "intuition"Isn't intuition more or less the capability to process information in a blink of an eye? The 'supercomputer' part of our brains that works much faster than we can perceive as conscious thinking? one of the best college courses i ever took was a sociology course where they taped us during discussions and showed us the tapes. very illuminating. Rachel Green, a public speaking coach, commented on the blog post you clipped. She indicates that sometimes "we" ourselves are too critical of our own body language and make too much of it: like blushing. If we comport ourselves with confidence a few fidgets of the hands aren't really going to matter to anyone, really. Our body language is all in our head before it gets to our hands.
