That's not very Sharia-like... in India, however, this is part of the culture. Interesting.

Let's see..in 1978, under the democratically elected PDPA government in Afghanistan women were introduced to political life, granted the right to vote, given job security, forced marriages were banned and health services improved. This was all a bit too fair for the US government who, under the leadership of Jimmy Carter, decided it was time to train and arm an ultra-conservative rag tag group of bandits called the Mujahideen to oust the elected govt. By the year 2000 these murdererous scumbags controlled over 95% of the country. The rest is history. The women of Afghanistan have the US to thank for their plight. I expect they are really grateful.
