anonymology says: They're very serious about this sort of thing in Italy. It's like how you cannot enter St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican if your shoulders are exposed (women) or legs exposed (men). Funny, It's supposed to be His temple but the church is ashamed of it? Sorry. Not following, Skwirl. Is the church ashamed of what? The body is supposed to be Gods temple. Ah, yes. I forgot about that little ditty about the body being the temple. I think they're just opposed to 'indecency'! Last time I checked, God didn't have a dress code. Everytime I hear of "churches" turning away individuals because of how they are dressed (not nice enough, no suit, blue jeans, holes, dirty, bare midriff, etc.) it makes me sick. And it is crap like that, that is EXACTLY the reason why "religion" leaves such a dirty taste in peoples' mouths. I've been waiting, just waiting to go to church one Sunday and catch a church official doing that. I stopped going to church at one place because I was cornered for wearing cutoff jeans and a tee shirt. Knslyr - agreed. The church, any church, cannot expect to be allowed to be so imposing in this day - the world just does not work like that anymore. Skwirl - I don't blame you. BP - another very good point. you cannot enter St. Peters Basilica in the Vatican if your shoulders are exposed (women) or legs exposed (men).so who sits around and decides which body parts on each sex are taboo? i'd love to be a fly on the wall during that discussion. and anyway, i would have expected it to be the other way. why not prohibit exposure of men's shoulders and women's legs? i think most men are significantly more attracted to and distracted by women's legs than shoulders. can't even count how many times a guy has said something like, "man she has the sexiest legs." can't remember ever hearing "wow are her shoulders hot." That is too funny! Thanks for sharing Merican. |
