It is also ironic to sue other countries in an effort to get them to produce more oil, while at the same time preventing production here at home and making us even more dependent on foreign oil

I think this started in the Senate last year with a bi-partisan plan which passed: The U.S. Senate on Tuesday approved a plan that would enable the federal government to sue OPEC for price manipulation, but the White House has threatened to veto the measure and opponents warned OPEC members could retaliate by turning off the taps.
The bill, sponsored by Democrat Herb Kohl of Wisconsin and Republican Arlen Specter of Pennsylvania, would revoke the sovereign immunity members of the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries enjoy from U.S. legal action. The final component of the Democrats’ energy plan is to sue OPEC to force them to release more oil in the market.

About that part of the bill, Reuter's says: The bill seeks to revive a plan already passed by both the Senate and the House of Representatives that would allow the federal government to sue OPEC -- source of one-third of global oil supply -- for price manipulation.

Sounds like either Reuters or your author may have stretched the facts just a teeny.

I don't think so. I believe that Hillary was pretty clear when she said she would punish OPEC by bringing them up on charges in the World Court. But, regardless, the entire idea is lunacy.
