Thomas Jefferson wrote a famous line, something on the order of, "It does me no injury if my neighbor believes in a dozen gods, or one, or none. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg." So Obama is not the first president to publicly acknowledge nonbelievers, but Uncle Tom didn't have millions hanging on his every word.
