clip-on-tie says: I don’t mean to use a human tragedy for political message purposes, but this had me crying with pride and sympathy – it is just touching. Sadly, it fits all too well with the current debate over government control vs individual choice (and responsibility). This giving part of America is poised to be snuffed out by Obamacare. Companies can decide on their own when it is time to just fill the need and forget the bottom line, as Fed Ex did in this case. I have no doubt a US Post Office manager or worker would jump into the breach and do the same if they could. But the difference here is a government run entity is bound by libraries full of regulations. They cannot make an exception, they cannot redirect resources. They cannot perform the simple act of human charity without permission. This little girl’s family did not have time for a waiting list like the long one in Canada. And the evil private company (for profit) stepped in and made it happen. Waaaahhhhhh corporations....wahhh The movie is not loading for me, here or at the site. Is anyone else getting it? A lot of people complain about Canada's health care, but i can tell you that when my daughter got appendicitis we were sent from the walk-in-clinic to the hospital where she was looked after and admitted right away. They performed emergency surgery on her that night, and i was able to stay the night with her. They even gave me a toothbrush.....and none of this cost me a cent. It's true we do have problems, but that's my good story. That is a touching story though, wish i could see the video. Did they get her home in time? They say the little girl who showed so much love toward others needs to be with those who love her. Even while she was going through treatments, Jada's parents says she was always thinking of others. "She had just gotten out and had a procedure on her brain, and this little girl in the bed next to her had been in a car wreck, and her legs were real messed up, and she couldn't move. She had to lay straight. [i]And before we left the hospital, Jada insisted that we go buy this little girl a stuffed animal that could fit in her hand, because all of her other stuffed animals were too big and, the way her arms were, she could only hold on with her hand. "So she went down and bought her a little... Lollipop. You can see the video here: http://www.ky3.com/news/local/63330872.html Thanks for sharing your Canadian health care story too. I'm glad things worked out well for you! such stories are so warm and heartening...reconfirm my faith in the basic human nature... Bureaucracies Clipon of which all governments are made of have to disappear, yet, "anarchy" requires a whole other "level of self-discipline" to be workable. My "feeling" is that we have to re-look at what "real freedom" means. I don't feel like I am in a position to expand upon this. What I do know is, that it is not what I am led to believe by the programs of the current world and somewhere/somehow I have to find my own wisdom from the lies that I am constantly bombarded with to find a world I genuinely love. obama's health care will not replace the large companies, it will encourage them to reduce costs and not choose to /not/ cover someone by providing an alternative that is available to everyone. when have you ever heard of an insurance company doing something out of compassion? |
