I support Chavez’s desire to remain independent of international coporations and no country should be bullied by U.S. policy. However, I believe Mr. Stone is being misled and stubbornly naïve in his support of Chavez.

He remarks that Chavez remains popular and keeps getting elected, of course he keeps getting elected, he keep changing the constitution so he can get re-elected. Evidently, Mr. Stone supports this sort of thing.

Chavez has nationalized the banks, oil companies, utilities, steel industry, etc. Perhaps Mr. Stone thinks this is a shining example of how to make a better life for his people.

It’s one thing to cash in on controversy, it is quite another to prop up a dictator for standing up to the very same government that offers the freedoms Mr. Stone is taking advantage of.
