Van Nguyen came to Italy with her parents, refugee boat people from Vietnam. She was only a year old then.... They didn't make it on to one of the US planes so they fled in a small crowded dinghy... they were the few lucky ones... they were fished out of the sea in time by an Italian ship passing through those waters in South-east Asia... I met her in Trieste while she was a student at the School of Interpretors... Typical restlessness of the eternal migrant.... Mutant hybrids.... we cant stay put...
