I was wondering how they could get around the food problem But seriously, cutting out television time also helps dramatically reduce the whole desire for "manufactured wants" . Reading is much more fun anyway.

LOL, I agree with egoldstein. It's just one of those simple comforts; the desire to spend a little is theraputic.

yeah, but if you can't buy new books... well, I guess there's always the library. I just like owning my books, since I tend to return to the good books while waiting for next-in-series to release, etc. Books that don't quite cut it, get donated.

I unplugged my television and banned commercial publications from mail about three months ago. I haven't missed those for a second. Of course I can still read newspaper at my workplace, use internet and watch DVDs if I want to. Mayby I can watch TV when I get old, now I want to use my time something more educating...like reading Wikipedia
