For now, let me give you my opinion about the ignorance and idiocy and embarrassment of George W. Bush and the GOP in general. Funny thing about Americans. We seem to have no objections to gross economic inequality, but little tolerance for cultural inequality; that is ppl who sound and act better educated than our dumb assed NASCAR-watching selves and perhaps that is why the "educated" son of an elite New England family learned to talk like a yahoo. Whoo hoo.

The point being is the while Bush may have not been the sharpest tool in the shed, it is he who thinks the America people are the real dullards--and as long as he sold whatever he was buying with folksy charm, well, it was A-OK.

But 20 or 30 years from now perhaps we will understand G.W.'s attacks on environmental protections, on the Constitution and it's democratic checks and balances, on civil liberties and privacy, on voting rights, on government accountability, on the middle class and the poor, on fiscal responsibility, on a country that hadn't attacked and didn't threaten us, on the integrity and honor of the President's office, and on truth itself.

In the meantime, please feel free to feel safe. I know I don't.
