It is such a fascinating story Alanocu. Maybe she needed to keep that shoe box just for herself.

One would be surprised at the amount of history locked away in shoe boxes, cigar boxes, old trunks,etc. One of the saddest things I remember was elderly women wearing lockets with tufts of hair inside belonging to children and spouses lost to various ailments before antibiotics; I was just a child, but thought how sad.

I admire her for keeping those memories her secret. Too many people see dollar signs when they have something like that in their possession. Keeping the memories secret to me shows a true sense of loss, love and grieving.
