If I did, I would never ever be able to get on an aeroplane. To say I feel fear every single time I travel by air, would be an understatement. I hope the desensitizing bit kicks in soon, because it never seems to get any easier, "flooding" or not.

I still remember the fear I had when I first came onto Clipmarks and posted my first series of clips and comments. I used to lie awake at night fearing the response I'd get. To this day, a year later, I am still anxious about my every clip and comment, but not to the initial degree. Strangely enough, Debby, it's you who has embued me with the courage to continue. You seem fearless and this is contageous. You roll with the punches and come back up fighting. This is such good roll-model stuff for us more timid women. Fear is just an emotion, although it can prevent you from doing things you would like to do. But I try to say to myself "An emotion of fear has just enveloped me". It helps somewhat.

My fear of heights in airplanes is not from leaving the ground, but from if the pilot has had one more for the road before takeoff. The way I cured that is when the flight attendant asks me what I want to drink I tell her just give me what the pilot is having. This way we are on the same page.

Thanks Mousie, that was very interesting. On the subject of this clip the fact is I'm afraid to be afraid. If I dwelt on my real deep fears I would go crazy, consequently it gets to the point where I can't shut my mind off and I have insomnia.So for normal fears I just face them head on. If there's something on the other side of the door and blood running under it, I will open it.

I know what you mean tanyamm. I sometimes get a feeling like "we're all doomed!" when I think of the wars and economy and the environment and climate change etc. It becomes overwhelming. Then I disconnect for a few days. I don't go to news sites. I read Garfield instead. I don't read about death and destruction, but take long bubble baths and listen to good music instead. In today's world, you have to be able to disconnect sometimes, I think. To keep sane. I do anyway.
