BitDrifter says: As I have said in other clips. The last thing I want is some doctor looking at me before I have died and thinking "Wonderful, wonderful, this guys organs are perfect for the guy in room 302." Further, attaching benchmarks for organ donations is even more frightening. No thanks, unless I give you explicit consent don't look at me like a bag of organs to distribute. If the family (or the patient, if he's still alive) objects, the organs are not used. Otherwise, presuming that the person doesn't want to donate is throwing away potentially usable organs. As for pressuring doctors... no comment. @BitDrifter, public opinion here (the UK) would appear to be not in favour of compulsory removal of organs. I think the idea may get buried like a lot of 'good' ideas from our great and good. It is sad though that so may people die each year, because so many of us "don't get round to" signing onto the organ donation register |
