Godfrey Daniel says: Ms Kamalfar is guilty of being an Iranian who wants to live in a free country. That is a felony in Ali Khamenei’s Iran, and a matter of considerable indifference to the “international community”... Please check this vid Something has to be done to help this woman and her kids. Ms Kamalfar is guilty of being an Iranian who wants to live in a free country.Although I'm not from Iran, but something tells me above doesn't make much sense. Of course it doesn't make sense. We're talking about the Mulahs ruling Iran. You expect sense? Iran is not south Korea or Taliban's Afghanistan. May be you can enlighten me if you have watched the whole video, what is exactly was her problem in Iran? She can't be the only one on youtube complaining about the country's lack of freedom while being outside of it. What do the possibly worst examples of oppression and evil have to do with it? So, Iran is a few degrees short of that level, what consolation is that to this woman, her family, and other Iranian's suffering? Zahra Kamalfar participated in demonstrations six years ago. She and her husband were jailed in 2004, in her case for 8 months. Released for a two-day furlough so she could see her two children (Ana and Davood), she and the kids escaped to Turkey with forged Bulgarian passports (her own was held by the regime). This is case is interesting. Ms.Kamalfar's advocates, who seem to me to be mostly American conservatives, are going up against the asylum restrictions implemented in European countries by conservative, nationalistic politicians bitching about asylum seekers leeching off their country. Personally, I think I would rather governments err on the side of having too liberal asylum policies rather than too restrictive ones. Of couirse it's conservatives. The Left are never involved in addressing oppression and in alleviating the suffering of those subject to it absent an element that can be used in furthering one of their agendas. Issues of immigration and asylum are not either/or as you depict. Documentable, obvious cases such as this one have been, and should remain, exceptions to even the most restrictive immigration policy. |
