The stabilization progression simultaneously trains the upper body and core. Developing proper stabilization in the core, especially in the abdominal muscles and hip flexors, drastically improves performance in locomotive and running activities. The shoulder joint stabilization required is also great for swimming. T-stabilization push-ups provide the multiplanar approach to training we look for. We can vary intensity by changing the position of the upper or lower body. For example, to make the push-up easier, shorten the lever arm of the exercise by elevating the upper body. Begin this exercise by lowering the body toward the floor, focusing on straight alignment through the knees, hips, and spine during the entire movement.
