As a former DJ I can tell you that Vinyl rules and always will.

I don't like CDs. I LOVE my vinyl. Mostly it's because I was able to buy hundreds of classic albums for anywhere between 99 cents and $5 -- I would never fork out $$ to get the CD version.

So now for the problem... I don't have a receiver for my turntable. I used to have my guitar amp hooked up to it, but now that's at the studio. They really are impractical, but great to have nonetheless.

C'mon... I'm a huge (think High Fidelity) music fan, but teens by and large don't like vinyl records over CDs. Teens that are music fanatics or DJs like vinyl records over CDs. Also, more authentic does not mean better sounding. I need to dig up that study.

whatervernevermind- i TOTALLY agree with you...aside from Vinyl being cheaper and even 'cooler' to the real music-geek.....I am SHOCKED that a study shows teens PREFER vinyl to CD's....where did they find these teens????!

dfiskey - maybe it is a whole pile of teens that were in a fallout shelter and just released. Can't remember the comedy movie about this...but I saw it years ago...

The Unification Church-owned UPI news agency ranks bottom on the list of trusted news sources. (It also sounds like the study was overwhelmingly biased with status-seeking hipsters...most teens listen to MP3s). Also, some of the most respected DJs in the world have moved onto performing with CDs and MP3s and still sound as good as ever...things change.

All that said, I'm a vinyl collector too. Though I don't have time to browse through the used record stores anymore. Or the cash to play with the big boys on Ebay.
