There's hope that our new MBA's will have a more expanded view of the "bottom line" - immediate profit at the expense of our health, environment and future just doesn't work. I hope the "oath" is enough to suppress them, but I doubt it. Going to jail may make them think twice. 80% were happy with the greed. About right. We all know a few people who are not greedy. It is good that some are willing to work for a living. I hope they shine like beacons at the reunions. promising and actually doing. Remains to be seen. BERTRAND RUSSEL wrote about QUAKERS' ' business sense ' in their creed of ethical business transaction(a la TATAS in INDIA )which made them the most successful businessmen. In mid-Fifties , B .RUSSEL's comment on QUAKERS' MOVEMENT was debated a lot at the Punjab University campus( at HOSHIARPUR in PUNJAB,INDIA) where incidentally,among our contemporaries, was . MANMOHAN SINGH a student /teacher,our Prime Minister now. And then our P rime Mminister JAWAHARLAL NEHRU inspired confidence in our freedomfighters' vision of building a progressive, planned society,untainted by corruption. By mid-Sixties I was told:"T BE HONEST IN A CORRUPT SOCIETY {i.e. INDIA} is to be most corrupt! " |
