Emma Watson, who rose to prominence playing Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter film series has a woman in her family tree who is convicted of witchcraft in the 16th century. According to Ancestry.com, genealogists have learned that 19 year-old Emma is a distant relative of Joan Playle. Playle, a 16th-century woman of Essex County, England was convicted of witchcraft in 1592. She was excommunicated from the Church of England.
