blueridge says: A cyclone in 1970 killed 500,000! Cannot even fathom that number of people being killed in one day, like taking out a major U.S. city. This makes New Orleans look like nothing. Poor Bangladesh. It seems they are hard hit almost every year from floods or storms or something. They have pulled through many, many Katrina-like scenarios, it seems. I'm sure this will not be the last time they're struck by disaster either. Poor people. The death toll estimate has risen from 600 to 15,000 in three days. It is good at least that people are keeping up with this, that governments are pouring in aid, and that these dreadful figures appear to be minimised by Banladeshi preparations against the forces of nature. |
