There was no outing of a covert agent in the Plame case.

An October 1, 2003, Washington Post article also quoted intelligence officials confirming Plame's undercover status with the CIA:

Plame currently is an analyst at the CIA. But, intelligence officials said, she previously served overseas in a clandestine capacity, which means her name is kept classified to protect her previous contacts and operations, and her ability to work again undercover overseas.

Valerie Plame, the CIA, and Patrick Fitzgerald have all said she was a covert operative that was outed. Readers can decide for themselves if they find n2sooner's counter-arguments convincing.

There is a very simple way to determine if she was covert and when. It would be noted with the exact dates in her pay record. Fitz has access to that information, but he refuses to release it, even to the defense.

I agree that everyone can draw their own conclusions, but just remember these two facts. Fitz has the exact time and dates that she was covert, and he has refused to prosecute anyone for her outing.
