It looks like a lot of these folks are feeling the strain of trying to balance a "good job" with good mental and physical health. As anyone who has ever worked in a call centre will tell you, they are the most depressing places in the world. Sure the companies concerned do genuinely try to make these environments more appealing, naming rest areas 'Team Buzz Pods' and other childishly insulting psudonyms for other mundane tasks / spaces. But there's an extra level of demeaning elements to these jobs: the people you talk to... speaking to people in call centres is much the same way as speaking to people over the internet, with anonimity being key to behaviour. Ok, most people can be civil enough to obtain their bank balance or check a few techy queries, but some people just love the chance to be rude, aggressive and vis... |
