I changed the title changed from A 'cult of armed men and weapons' has 'spread in Palestinian society' to Getting killed for an illusion. The purpose of my original title was to show how occupation can warp one's humanity and to hold a mirror up to what's going on in the US and Israel, both of which could be said to have a problem with militarism.

But obviously my intent wasn't clear, and the title was leading people to the opposite conclusion I intended. So I am going with the original Ha'aretz English title of this piece.
