Ratsy again shows his true colors and unleashes a diatribe against those who don't believe in his dogma.

He mentions the tired argument about communism and Marxism as though these ideologies came about through the idea of atheism rather than an as attempt to set up a dictatorial and fascist form of government. I suspect his diatribe has more to do with the recent criticism of his dogma and falling church membership in Europe. Of course, he doesn't address the fact that the most violent and oppressive governments are also the most religious. He fails to recognize that the most successful European governments are the most secular.

Anti-atheists always trot out the same tired list of names in support of the argument that atheism=immorality: Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Pol Pot. Hitler never renounced his religion; on the contrary, he remained a Catholic (albeit a non-practicing one), used religion as a tool for promoting his policies and was opposed to state atheism. The others killed as a means of maintaining or strengthening their power and political agenda. Had atheism been their motivation, they would have specifically targeted the religious; instead, they went after the political dissidents, the intellectuals and the educated.

A similar anti-intellectualism exists among right-wingers in the US.

Exactly. It does become wearisome as each new crop of born-agains comes along and rehashes the same old tired arguments as though they are the latest revelations and will immediately convince others of the evils of atheism. More than anything, it points out the intellectual laziness of some.
