I read "The Puzzle of Frozen Gas", page 30 Maclean's June 30/08 while waiting for my wife in a Dr.'s office. Got me doing a bit of research. Looks like methane from gas hydrates is an even bigger global warming threat than CO2.

Research is underway to harvest this gas as an alternative energy source. There's a quote in the Maclean's article that says...

"Extracting gas from hydrates is like trying to rip the bubbles from frozen champagne."

Apparently, it won't be easy.
