You think he's using the same internet as the rest of us? They probably got special proxies or extra encrypted stuff.....who knows, he's probably browsing a made up google for himself.

Not to complain, but I did see this on Digg yesterday. I have occassionally found myself thinking of clipping pages I discovered via Digg, but haven't because I didn't want CM to be an echo-chamber.

What is the community's view on re-posting links found through other social bookmarking sites? It there an etiquette? Like say adding a tag for or link to the original source.

good question teajay. i guess i think it's ok to clip from stories found through digg. it's certainly a great/popular source of news for many people. that said, i also totally agree that clipmarks should not become an echo-chamber as you refer to it.

these days, it seems that there are a lot of "me too" web sites out there where the content is fairly similar. at clipmarks, even if it's the same story, i think that you usually get a unique take on it because of the brevity of the clip. and the tone that's been set here seems to result in a blend of clips that are from top stories around the web along with totally unique bits of info-goodies that work here but really wouldn't work anyw...

I think it is all fine. As far as I'm concerned, I only clip from other known sites if I have something to say on the clip (and they have not been clipped here already). I guess it all depends on where you want to speak up and share your views.

First of all, why would Bush need "The Google" for maps? It's not as if he drives himself anywhere.

To really find out where Iraq is you need a map and a time machine.

SohilioSearch has helped (that word doesn't really do justice to the assistance provided) me find this thread - I read this at the time, didn't pop or comment and was unable to find it again.

Regarding the echo-chamber concern I think this comes down to the question of motivation - why do we clip - for myself the primary ...
