But it does me no injury for my neighbor to say there are twenty gods, or no God. It neither picks my pocket nor breaks my leg.”As I perceive it, a majority of the people who want government and politics to be influenced by religion are the same people that are proponents of individualism and choice in the "private sector". Yet going to a temple, mosque or church for worship is one of the most individual choices one can make in life. What could be more independent than making the additional sacrifices in time or money to homeschool one's children or send the... How can we properly govern the people? By what means can we represent ALL of the people? At what point do the laws of the people appliy to all of the people? Who are the people? Did the people elect the politician or only some of the people? How can any law apply to all of the people? Laws and politicians must be established that consider all of the people evenly. Politics should be about simplicity and fairness to the people - all of the people. Nicely put skwirl. I suspect the major complaint has little to do with constitutional concerns and much to do with the fear of losing privilege. |
