AtlLiberal says: As expected, the Pope's address to the UN contained some pieces of truth but as could be expected failed to appreciate that the same results can be reached without the need for an imaginary friend. Still, if the superstitious aspects of his speech are overlooked what he said was human, needed and to the point. Well Alt, We can agree on this. No doubt the world would be a better place if we lived according to the principals of loving your neighbor as yourself. So lemme say this. Jesus's teachings were a little edgier than that hun. After all, it got his killed. Authorities do not commonly execute someone whose message abounds with benign banalities such as be kind, be nice and be good. So being a Christian, for me, is not as shallow as following good advice or having an "imaginary friend" sorta like Santa in which I present my list of "prayer requests" cause baby, you know debby's been naughty. To naughty Debbyski OK. Yet the fact remains that all religions (with a few minor exceptions) are based in believing in supernatural events and interventions. As I've expressed many times before, this, to me, is superfluous and unnecessary. Until we have verifiable evidence that this is not the case it would be fool hearted to relinquish my rationality for fairy tales and myths. I won't even get into the Jesus thing. For me, it would be like arguing the politics of Zeus or the states stance toward Ra. Oooh, how I luvs being called naughty And fairies too, btw Oh, you foxy nymph. You keep teasing me like that and your 2¢ worth will make a believer of me yet. |
