BartendingBear says: But of course, we'll sacrifice fuel mileage for a bigger engine here, which always seems to be the case when they bring cars here. Americans are just too caught up with power to do otherwise. Well, it's suicide to drive less than 70 mph on the interstate here Bear; but would you drive it? Gladly. I do fully understand the importance of power on the road for active safety, but if they got more power and delivered a reliable... 40-45 MPG it would be a hoot. The proper way to drive such a car is with the attitude of a motorcycle rider, always on the aggressive defensive. I'll never do a cycle, but small cars have always been my choice. Right now I drive a 100K mile 2000 Saturn 4-door, and regularly post 30 MPG. Years ago (about '76) when they were brand new I drove a 100 mile old Civic CVCC 3 door from Milwaukee to Miami and back. I'm guessing this Toyota/Scion isn't much smaller. Cheap and easy around town, this would be great. Much as I love road trips, they aren't too common for me anymore. |
