Seriously tho... there are many people that have convinced themselves that America has huge oilfields (many times that in the middle east) just waiting to be drilled but the evil environmentalists are blocking access to it. There is plenty of oil. The price of oil will always be held in check by whatever potential replacement is offered because nothing on the immediate horizon can be offered as cheaply as oil. It's the law of supply and demand. As the supply of oil runs out, regardless of how much there is to handle current demand, the price is going to steadily go up. Soon enough the oil companies are going to see the writing on the wall : "we only have enough to last us a dozen or so years and that's not counting the increased demand created by growing populations and economies" They'll want to squeeze as much profit out as they can before their sources dry up. When people say "there is plenty of oil", and mean it, it just staggers me.
