40 million? Geez, That's is about how many listen to Rush Limbaugh in a week. Considering Limbaugh is on radio and Obama's speech was on 8 or 9 TV stations, that doesn't sound like very many people.

I was watching the football game.

And isn't it funny that all that planning, the elaborate stage, the swooning media ready to shut down anyone who dared to challenge 'The One' all but forgotten the next day.

The REAL Napster
I wonder how many of those were viewers from Germany? Since he has such a huge following there.

Ratings in the US where he beat the Opening Day coverage of the Olympics on Beijing. Nielsen doesn't do world wide ratings for US television.

willhelm, I guess republicans would be more enthused about drug abuser Rush Limbaugh running for office than marital infidel John McBush.

" Television ratings from Sarah Palin's speech last night are beginning to roll in. Numbers from the three major networks show Palin slightly beating out Hillary Clinton's big night a week ago as well as Joe Biden's Vice Presidential address.

As for tonight - it's going to be difficult, to say the least, for
John McCain to compete with the whopping 38.4 million viewers who tuned
in to watch Barack Obama deliver his closing speech at Invesco Field
last week. Either way, the McCain camp has to be happy that Palin's
very well-received speech garnered a sizable audience. "

Aren't they so smart?

The REAL Napster
McCain's speech just beat Obama's

He also rode a wave of positive press after a convention speech that more viewers tuned into than did to Obama’s much-hyped and (until McCain’s) record-setting address—and nearly as many tuned in to hear Palin speak the night before.

Meanwhile, independent voters who less than a week ago were evenly split as to whether she helped or hindered the ticket now are more than twice as likely to see her as an asset than a liability.

My guess is that more democrats were willing to watch McCain reminding us that he was a POW then republicans were generous enough to see the other side of the debate and listen in on Obama.

That would explain the higher number of viewers witnessing McCain skipping the years 1973-1980 in his video biography.
